5. My view on Web Design Process article.
After reading the article, I realised that having research is very crucial when designing.
Firstly, this is so that I will be able to have an idea of what I want to do for my project. Also, I will be able to complete my project on time because I spend less time on brainstorming. Secondly, there’s also a need to take a look at what other designers have created. As you can analysis what other improvements can be done in the same design. By studying other designers’s works, you can understand the strength and weakness of the existing designs. Thirdly, there’s is also a need to write down relevant words to broaden my perspective of the current problem that I’m facing with when designing. Lastly, thumbnails are essential when developing my ideas. It will allow me to focus on the structure design for the page, rather than focusing small details in it, during the early stages of designing.
In a design, typography is much more important than imagery. Its not a necessity to always have imagery in a design. Whereas for typography, it defines whether the design is formal or informal. But nevertheless, having an image will add in visual. So that the user will have a level of understanding when reading the text or headline.
The points that I’ve mentioned above are basic needs when designing. What’s important is to seek, the client’s opinion.
Seeking the client’s foundation is the most important step, before I start on my research. This is because I need to know exactly what design are they going for. They don’t exactly just want to make a website with great designs in it, but a design that aids them in their marketing strategy. A good design can attracts a lot of users to view the site. Thus, solving the problem to their marketing strategy.
The next step will be doing a photoshop mock up. This is a stage whereby I can add in details of my design and show the clients. Whereby I will finalize the colors, type faces and sizes and add in details on my design. Once its finalize, I can get the design done into a valid XHTML or CSS.
All in all, I think that seeking the client’s opinion and doing research is crucial when it comes to designing a website. Thus, I will be able to work efficiently and also deliver what my client wants.
